Actually, there are no monkeys in Madagascar. The animal you're thinking of is a lemur. And for wondering there is a difference: we & monkeys & apes like Baboons & gorillas are simians, whereas Lemurs are prosimians, a more ancient & primitive group along with bushbabies & tarsiers.
